In the event you have been reading my blogs and having some angst when you see how I have spell moulding, I have intentionally spelled it by the Queen's English as I am building an 8-day English clock design.
Today, I glued together the two front-most arch moldings. Tomorrow, I will make the angled cuts that join these pieces to the side skirts. I should get a sense then as to how this is going to look [I'm not all that impressed with the arch moulding and would have preferred to do this using a large cove arch; but such a plane no longer is available.] In preparation for the side skirts, I also made up some pieces from which the side skirts will be crafted. You will understand this better tomorrow when you can actually see it. Then, I made some rabbet cuts on arch pieces #1 and #7 to accommodate slats that will cover the opening in the top hood. I also test-fit some of the hood pieces. The hood is by far the most difficult build task on the clock case. As a reminder, I long ago gave up using any existing plans and have been detailing this clock build as I go along. Please enjoy today's pics below. Click to enlarge.
