Well, this evening was all about the base top-frame. It is now fastened-down as best I could without punching a hole through or splitting the case base. Its purpose is to carry the load of the entire clockworks! Picked-up some wood screws and a special bit that fits the #10 screws I am using. Has a drill that is in the contour of the screw and has an adjustable stop with a countersink. It worked well. I also used a trick of putting masking tape on a larger bit to act as a stop. The larger bit is used to keep the screw joint from "jacking". And, just to be sure the frame is fastened, I lathered on a lot of glue. Wood glue is amazingly strong. Once this frame assembly drys, I then have to similarly insert and fasten the case waist into and against the frame - all the while being sure the clock case stays straight. I'm thinking I should get that done tomorrow. Getting very close to it looking like a clock case and standing upright! Click on photos to enlarge and enjoy!
